Toyota showed once again why customers who care about safety choose their vehicles. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) has just granted Top Safety Pick awards to a whopping twelve of the automaker’s vehicles—more than any other manufacturer.
Toyota even received more IIHS Top Safety Pick+ ratings than any other automaker as well. The Prius, Prius v, Camry, Highlander, and Sienna—all of which you can find at Lancaster Toyota—were recipients of the highest honor, in addition to three more Lexus models.
Those that “only” received an IIHS Top Safety Pick designation, + sign not included, were the Avalon and RAV4, as well as two Scions.
To earn the award, all of the aforementioned models had to earn an acceptable or good rating in the IIHS’s difficult small overlap crash test, on top of a good rating in all four of the other crashworthiness evaluations. Those that earned that extra + also had to score an advanced or superior rating for front crash prevention—something that no minivan other than the Sienna can boast!
“At Toyota, our focus remains on the safety and peace of mind of our customers,” said Dino Triantafyllos, Toyota’s North American Chief Quality Officer. “We’re pleased the IIHS has recognized the strong and improved safety performance of our vehicles in a range of crash tests.”
