Toyota Walk In My Boots” Program Helps Detroit’s Needy

Toyota Walk In My Boots Community Outreach Project Michael Rouse, vice president, Diversity, Philanthropy and Community Affairs, Toyota Motor North America, recently said in a press release, “At Toyota, we want to build more than just great cars and trucks.”

The “Toyota Walk In My Boots” community outreach project goes far beyond making high-quality vehicles. It’s about making a bridge between a company that has resources to make a real difference and a community that is in need of help.

Two thirds of residents in Detroit haven’t the income to pay for basic needs like health care and housing. As we approach the cold winter months, many families in Detroit who may live on the streets risk exposure-related injuries like frostbite and hypothermia.

As part of its participation in the North American International Auto Show, Toyota is helping to provide Detroit families with much needed winter gear. While they are showing off the latest and greatest in automotive technology and engineering, Toyota is handing out insulated boots and socks to those who need it most.

This the fifth year that the “Toyota Walk In My Boots” program has helped the Detroit community.
