Now that Apple and Android have both created applications to sync cell phones to cars, with Apple’s CarPlay and Android Auto, it’s only a matter of time before every automaker jumps on the new technology. Thanks to some help from Ford, it looks like Toyota might be one of the first.
Ford’s SmartDeviceLink (SLD) technology allows drivers to use the Apple and Android programs. Not only does this make it easier than ever to access your music and contacts, but also it will likely prevent many from using their phones will driving.
Toyota and Ford will now be working together on the SLD program, according to a recent announcement. Ford actually opened up their plans to other companies a couple of years ago, and now these two companies have finally made a deal.
